This week’s adult entertainment news: France rewrites a bill that threatened OnlyFans and MYM, and Nokia sues Pornhub owner Aylo over video patents. Meanwhile, OnlyFans adds new guidance for creators working with agencies.
Regulation, patents and creator safety dominate this round of adult entertainment news. First, lawmakers in Paris pulled back from treating subscription platforms like pimping sites. Meanwhile, a Finnish tech giant took Pornhub’s parent to court in Texas. In addition, OnlyFans quietly spelled out how creators can report third parties who seize their accounts. Here’s what happened.
1. France Rewrites Bill That Targeted OnlyFans and MYM
France’s National Assembly on Wednesday adopted a government amendment, according to LCP and Le Monde. It fully rewrites Article 25 of the country’s sweeping bill against sexist and sexual violence. The earlier commission version would have expanded France’s pimping rules to digital platforms that sell personalized adult content. That would have put sites such as OnlyFans and MYM—and live cam platforms—squarely in the crosshairs. It would also have penalized buyers of that content.
However, creators and some lawmakers pushed back. For example, LFI deputy Sarah Legrain warned that casting consensual online work as prostitution could push people onto less regulated platforms, LCP reports. The government also argued the commission text risked criminalizing ordinary online adult production, not just exploitation.
The new Article 25 focuses on “online sexual exploitation.” It covers recruiting, transporting, hosting or accommodating someone so that sexual images or videos of them can be made and posted. This applies when consent was not freely given—through threat, coercion, abuse of authority or vulnerability. Penalties run up to seven years in prison and €150,000 in fines, with heavier sentences in aggravated cases. In addition, buyers who knowingly and habitually, or for payment, view material tied to that exploitation face up to three years and €45,000. However, consensual adult-created content is left outside those new offenses, Le Club des Juristes and LCP note. The bill still has more votes ahead. As a result, this is a major rewrite, not finished law.
2. Nokia Sues Aylo Over Seven Video Patents
In adult entertainment news from the courts, Nokia Technologies Oy sued Aylo Holdings and related companies on October 2, patent outlet ip fray and Patent Litigator report. The case, 2:26-cv-00882, was filed in the Eastern District of Texas (Marshall Division). Aylo, formerly MindGeek, runs Pornhub, YouPorn, RedTube and other adult sites. The complaint also names entities tied to Brazzers, among others.
Nokia alleges that Aylo’s backend encoding of video into H.264-compliant formats infringes seven Nokia patents. These cover techniques such as motion coding, sub-pixel interpolation and picture buffering. Nokia says it wrote to Aylo three times between August 2025 and March 2026 seeking a license talk. It says it got no reply. Nokia also asks the court to declare that the asserted encoding claims are not subject to H.264 RAND licensing commitments. It argues the standard covers decoding, not encoding.
However, these are allegations, not findings. Nothing in the reporting orders Pornhub offline, and patent disputes of this kind often end in a license. OnlyFans, Fansly and Fanvue are not named. The suit also sits alongside Nokia’s wider push against streamers. That push has already included Amazon, Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery, per ip fray.
3. OnlyFans Warns Creators About Agencies and Account Control
OnlyFans added four new help-centre Q&As on working with third parties, captured by OFM News between late September and October 5. This is separate from the OnlyFans terms of service rewrite taking effect in November, which we covered earlier this week. The platform states it “does not work with or endorse any agencies, managers or third parties.” It also tells creators to get independent advice before signing any management contract. In addition, it stresses that its relationship is with the creator alone.
Creators are told to email [email protected] immediately if they lose access or if passwords or emails change without permission. The same applies if someone pressures them to hand over control or earnings, or if someone else is running the account. Reporting a third party will not by itself suspend the account or freeze earnings, OnlyFans says. Creators also do not need a third party’s permission to contact support. However, the new block does not ban agency relationships and does not mention chatters, chatbots or AI messaging tools.
